Safari to Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley National Park Tour

Overview

Kampala has a rich cultural and historical heritage, with sites like the Kasubi Tombs (burial grounds of Buganda kings), the Uganda Museum, and the Bahá'íTemple. Tourists interested in learning about the local culture and history will find Kampala fascinating. Kampala's Uganda Museum is known for its large collection of traditional musical instruments. Also notable are the tombs of the kings of Buganda, called the Kasubi Tombs, which are on a hill over looking the city.

Activities
Activities

Moroto

Welcome to Uganda and welcome to your safari! It all begins here with an introduction to your guide and

with a chance for you to ask any questions. Then it's time to get out there and enjoy your safari. Because you

chose Uganda, you have so much to look forward to.

Our base in Karamoja is Moroto, which stands at the western foot of the mountain of the same name. This is

the main town of the Karamojong, a semi-nomadic pastoralist people whose traditional measure of wealth is

cattle.

Kampala

Situated 40km north of Entebbe and its international airport, Kampala is a modern capital with a

population of at least two million set at the hub of the national road network.

Kara-Tunga Safari Camp

There's so much for you to enjoy when you stay at Kara-Tunga Safari Camp, which puts you in the perfect

position to enjoy this leg of your safari.

Kidepo Valley National Park

Our guests come to Kidepo Valley National Park for the wildlife, which includes lion, elephant, buffalo,

giraffe and zebra, but most are equally blown away by the mountainous scenery and sense of being miles

off any beaten track. Kidepo's bird checklist of 470 species includes several recorded nowhere else in Uganda

(most famously, East Africa’s only wild population of the spectacular rose-ringed parakeet). It’s one of the best

places anywhere to see the long- limbed, ground-dwelling patas monkey.

Karamoja Region

Situated in Uganda's arid east, Karamoja is home to the Karamojong people.

Kidepo Savannah Lodge (Safari Tent)

Tented camp | Bordering Kidepo Valley National Park without fences

We believe that Kidepo Savannah Lodge, our down-to- earth base for exploring Kidepo Valley National Park,

offers our guests a genuine bush experience. Set on a hillside just outside the park boundary, this tented camp

offers views across the Narus Valley, which also happens to be the best circuit for game drives in

search of lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wildlife typical of Kidepo.

All Day

You’ll join our expert guide on safari in Kidepo Valley National Park on a guided game drive where

you’ll track wildlife and ask questions about what you’re seeing.

Murchison Falls National Park

Described as the most exciting thing to happen to the Nile along its 6,000km journey from Lake Victoria to

the Mediterranean, the 43m-high Murchison Falls is also the centrepiece of Uganda's largest and oldest

national park. Here you might encounter four of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo), along with

the world's largest population of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, and several types of antelope and

monkey. Particularly noteworthy among 550-odd recorded bird species are the hulking great shoebill and

Abyssinian ground hornbill, and the beautifully marked and much localized white- crested turaco and red-

headed lovebird.

Gulu

Northern Uganda's largest town, Gulu is divided into a compact CBD centered on an overflowing market,

and a leafy and more northerly administrative and residential district. Separated by a valley, both districts

are enjoyable to explore on foot.

Pakuba Safari Lodge

Lodge | Inside Murchison Falls National Park

Expect to see plenty of giraffes and antelope as you approach Pakuba Safari Lodge, which stands on the east

bank of the Albert Nile alongside the ruins of a government hotel that served as a private retreat for

President Idi Amin in the 1970s. All rooms here have air-conditioning, fitted nets and a private balcony, and

there's a swimming pool with Nile views.

Early Morning

Early Morning Game Drive, Murchison Falls National Park

Midday

Most of our guests rate a boat trip to Murchison Falls as a safari highlight. Hippos and crocs are plentiful,

and you might see elephant, buffalo and other wildlife drinking.

Afternoon

Watch the sunset and enjoy a sundowner of a few drinks with us in Murchison Falls National

Park. It's a magical time of the day.

We return to the northern plains of Murchison Falls

National Park and Pakuba Safari Lodge.

Early Morning Game Drive, Murchison Falls National Park

time to be out on safari.
