Rwanda is well known for its mountain gorillas. First brought to international attention by the conservation efforts of Dian Fossey in the 1960s and 1970s, Rwanda’s gorillas have been featured in numerous documentaries and have been visited by well-known figures such as BillGates, Natalie Portman, and Ted Turner, all of whom have participated in Rwanda's annual gorilla naming ceremony. In addition to Mountain, GorillasRwanda is home to a huge diverse population of animals including the worlds largest natural park for hippos - some 20,000 are believed to be there.
