Overview
Dar es Salaam, a major city and commercial port on Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, grew from a fishing village. The open-air Village Museum has re-created the traditional homes of local and other Tanzanian tribes and hosts tribal dancing. It’s part of the National Museum, which offers Tanzanian history exhibits, including the fossils of human ancestors found by anthropologist Louis Leakey.

Arrive and transfer to the hotel 

This tour of Dar es Salaam will take you to various places in Dar es Salaam city. You will visit the National Museum located in the city center of Dar es Salaam. Askari Monument Pass by the bronze statue erected in 1927 to memorialize African soldiers who fought in World War I during the British regime. Later on will go to the Village Museum, an open-air museum that showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditional architecture of Tanzania's diverse ethnic groups,  passing  to  Mwenge  Carvings  Market  - Visit this market  to  see exquisite  art  and craftsmanship, from delicate sculptures to intricately designed furniture. You'll pass by Mlimani City, the biggest mall in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania, hosting a variety of shops and restaurants. 

 You will proceed to the Fish Market by ferry, Tanzanite Bridge - Pass by this stunning landmark that stands over the Indian Ocean. Take the option to take some stunning photos and many other sites. Learn about interesting facts about the city as well as some incredible historical sights that are all part of the adventure of the full-day tour. Finally, we'll end the tour at Coco Beach, a beautiful stretch of coastline popular with locals and visitors alike. Then we'll head back to your hotel. 

 

Visit Bagamoyo, a historic center of trade located 65 kilometers north of Dar es Salaam on the coast opposite Zanzibar. Bwagamoyo means “Here I throw down my heart,” reflecting the despair of those who would never return to Africa. Travel to fascinating archeological sites on a guided tour and discover the incredible history that shaped this ancient town. 

 Step into the Kaole Ruins located 5 kilometers south of Bagamoyo. Learn the story of the ancient Arab town of Kaole that was forced into decline by the arrival of the Portuguese in the 15th century. Explore the ruins which consist of 30 tombs and the oldest mosque in East Africa. Bear witness to the reminders of Bagamoyo's past. Visit the prison where slaves were held captive during the slave and ivory trade. See the relics of the colonial era at the Old Boma, a statehouse constructed by the Germans in 1897 and later taken over by the British after the First World War. Later, walk among the tombs of German leaders who perished during the First World War. Trace the roots of Christianity in Bagamoyo with the Catholic Museum, the former resting place of the famous explorer Dr. Livingstone.      

 Then, see the First Cross erected in 1867 by French missionaries. Finally, enjoy the warm hospitality of the Bagamoyo people. Beautiful beaches and hotels make it the ideal destination for relaxation during a visit to Dar es Salaam.
